Judy Kuguru works as the Employment Case Manager at the City of Shoreline and owns Thriftology in Lake City.
Judy interest in North Helpline’s work started when her previous employer, Literarcy Source, established a partnership with North Helpline. Judy joined the board in 2021.
“They continued to serve our communities in the middle of the pandemic,” ensuring accessibility to many families and helping with financial assistance, she said.
When some students at Literacy Source weren’t able to get to the food bank, North Helpline provided delivery options.
Judy has lived in the Seattle area for six years. She previously was a resident of Nairobi, Kenya. She came to the United States after being granted asylum status.
She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Nairobi and an AAAS Degree in Entrepreneurship and Marketing from Shoreline Community College.
She speaks four languages: English, Swahili, Kikuyu, and Kinyarwanda.
