Help us sustain our food supply
so that the Food Bank can continue distributing groceries to those in need three days a week! Encourage shoppers to buy a few extra cans of food to donate to North Helpline and work alongside other passionate volunteers.
We are open three days a week for food distribution. On these days,
volunteers are needed to hand out food, restock food on the line,
carry groceries to cars, assist with line-control, registration
and some sorting.
Wednesday: 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM
Thursday: 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Saturday: 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM
Volunteers are needed to bag produce and fruit and may also assist
with bagging bulk items such as rice, dog food, potatoes, etc. Bread
and pastry must also be sorted. Food must be bagged, sorted and
put away. Muscle is also needed to off-load the trucks.
Friday: 8:00AM to 12:00PM
Help us pick up donations at local grocery stores. We are looking
for volunteers who are available Saturday and weekday mornings.
Stores include our neighborhood QFC, Safeway, Fred Meyer, Starbucks,
Panera, and other grocery outlets. This is a commitment of about
one hour for every store. Volunteers must be able to lift 50 lbs
and should have a large car, van or truck to carry the items picked
up. Volunteers who pick up from a Starbucks store will be asked
to re-package the pastries. Training will be provided.
Volunteers are needed to provide assistance in Emergency Services
three to four times a month. Volunteers will be assisting clients
either in person or on the telephone with services such as: financial
assistance to prevent evictions and utility shut offs, emergency
food, hygiene items, baby cupboard distribution, referrals to other
agencies and organizations and counseling as needed.
This program requires a commitment of at least six months. This
group of volunteers works on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday from
9:30 AM until they are through, approximately 2:00 PM. This service
is performed by three people each day and is open to the public
from 10:00 AM until 1:30 PM. Training will also be provided.
